Gruta do Amor Trail - Cave of Love - Buzios

Breathtaking landscapes to the Gruta do Amor

The Gruta do Amor (Cave of Love) Trail begins at the entrance to the Costa do Sol State Park, passes through Pedra do Guardião (Guardian Stone) and continues towards the Viewpoint da Garganta Buraco do Céu (Sky Throat) and from there, we finally arrive at the Gruta do Amor (Cave of Love).

It may seem like a short itinerary, but the tour of the Gruta do Amor Trail takes about 4 hours, due to the countless possibilities of beautiful and unusual records along the way. The trail passes through perfect scenarios for contemplation, photos, rest and, of course, for a refreshing bath.

Highlights of the Gruta do Amor Trail (Cave of Love)

Pedra do Guardião (Guardian Stone)

The first stop of the trail, which begins at the entrance to the Costa do Sol State Park, takes place in a scenario full of walls and immense cliffs with the blue sea in the background. There, the main attraction is the Pedra do Guardião (Guardian Stone), a rocky formation carefully sculpted that resembles the face of a man.

A geological reference point, the environment invites you to explore the rocks until you reach the “breather”, a kind of viewpoint between the stones with the right to shade and wind. There, the order sits for a while, relaxes and contemplates.

Mirante Garganta Buraco do Céu (Viewpoint Sky Hole Throat)

A slightly steep climb leads to the viewpoint, which reveals, on one side, the Pedra do Guardião and, on the other, the beauty of the Garganta Buraco do Céu, framed by a sea of various shades of blue, dotted with turtles.

The bravest can appreciate the hole from a different point of view. A point at the edge of the trail reveals the entire immensity of the hole seen from above. Charming, but not suitable for those who are afraid of heights. In this case, the best option is to observe the white-headed cacti, endemic to the region, which exhibit “white hairs” on their top.

Gruta do Amor (Cave of Love)

After going up to the viewpoint, it’s time to go down to the cave. The descent requires, in some stretches, using the hands as support on the ground. The final stretches of the trail reveal what is to come: a perfect place for a swim and, depending on the tide, it is possible to enjoy the small beach at Gruta do Amor.

It is not necessary to dive into the crystal clear waters of the point known as Cove of the Turtle or Saco da Ferradura to reach the cave, but it is practically impossible to resist a refreshing bath. In this case, it is necessary to pay attention to the guidelines to avoid the submerged rocks that harbor urchins.

Inside the Gruta do Amor, the white sand, smooth stones and a small pool form an exclusive beach, appreciated and enjoyed by few.
