The Trail of the Pyramid of Snakes (Pirâmide das Cobras)
Amidst the trails that connect the popular beaches of Ferradura and Ferradurinha, there is an infinity of untouched scenery and unique beauties – some quite emblematic.
The Pirâmides das Cobras Archaeological Site is one of those incredible places in Búzios, but to get there you need to know the trail and face steep ascents and descents, climb and overcome obstacles in the midst of vegetation and rocks. For this route, the presence of a guide is essential, also because of the lack of signage and the degree of difficulty of the trail.
The trail to the Pyramid of Snakes totals about 3.5 km and reveals beautiful species of native plants along the trail, it can and should include a refreshing bath in Praia dos Amores.
About the Pyramid of Snakes Archaeological Site
Hidden in Costa do Sol State Park, and discovered by researchers in 2008, this archaeological site is touted as the place chosen by an indigenous tribe for worship, meditation and purification ritual practices.
All because of the many symbolisms observed in the area – in particular, the stone “pyramid” on the edge of the sea and an inverted triangle at the top of the shore. For the Indians, this pyramid would represent the sacred and fertility.
In addition to the symbology, the pyramid impresses with the color palette it displays at its base – red, ocher, green and white. To see the place in all its magnitude, it is essential to take the tour at low tide when the coming and going of the waves, sometimes revealing, sometimes hiding the base, provides a spectacle on its own.
The Pyramid of Snakes can be seen from different plateaus and beautiful angles – all from above and always demanding attention and caution.
The place also has figures of snakes and other animals carved into the rocks, hence the name of this Archaeological Site.
In addition to the rock formations, it is possible to appreciate native birds and sea turtles around the site.
