Trail Caravelas - Praia da Amendoeira - Pontal do Peró
The complete path of this trail is about 6 km, the path is easy and the main trail is all on flat and shady terrain. From the beginning of the trail to Praia da Amendoeira it is 2.6km, the last part in a more dense forest. In the final meters, a steep descent reveals the sea and, in the distance, the Dunas do Peró, already in Cabo Frio.
The paradisiacal Praia da Amendoeira (Amendoeira Beach) is a small strip of sand among the rocks that disappears completely at high tide. The tree that gives the beach its name guarantees generous shade, perfect for having a snack, replenishing energy and contemplating the view. All this after the dive, of course!
Leaving Amendoeira Beach, the trail continues towards Pontal do Peró, where we will continue in the company of hundreds of colorful butterflies (if it’s spring). The vegetation is formed by lianas, cactus, Saint George’s Swords and gigantic bromeliads delicately balanced on top of the trees, a beautiful mosaic of Atlantic forest, caatinga and restinga, typical of the region protected by the Costa do Sol State Park.
Once in Pontal do Peró, another invitation to bathe in the blue sea of waves that break on the white sands of Praia do Kalunga. The rocks in the left corner are the perfect viewpoints for a photo shoot framed by the dunes. The desire is to continue walking to the incredible sand mounds, which are the ideal setting for those who practice or want to take Sandboarding Lessons.
The Amendoeira Beach (Praia da Amendoeira)
Beautiful, isolated and hidden amidst stone walls and a verdant forest, this is the setting of the paradisiacal Amendoeira Beach (Praia da Amendoeira).
As we mentioned earlier, a small strip of sand between the rocks can only be seen when the tide is low, so it is important to pay attention to the tide table to get to know and have a complete experience in this destination.
When the tide rises, the beach disappears completely, leaving only the rocks and the iconic trees that give the place its name and guarantee shade for the few tourists who visit it.
Tip
To cross the secondary trail, which gives access to Amendoeira Beach, it is advisable to wear a shirt with long sleeves and pants, or wrap yourself in a sarong or towel. If the vegetation is high, it is best to be protected to avoid scratching the body.
