Among the little explored nooks and crannies in Búzios are the photogenic Ponta do Pai Vitório, besides the belvedere and the beach with the same names, and the “Praia dos Negros”. The attractions are on the outskirts of Rasa and deserve to be discovered in guided experiences. With the local professionals around, nobody gets lost or loses details of flora and fauna native or geological formations. Not counting environmental scientific, historical and cultural explanations, about the surprising attractions.
The Ponta do Pai Vitório Circuit starts at the beautiful Pai Vitório beach, going to the desert beach of Negros.
Then it’s made the return at Ponta. Formed by tectonics movements, the “failure” – as the Tip is called by geologists – impresses by the “body of work”. Covered by dense vegetation and advancing over the sea amidst rocks, creates an exotic and wild landscape, perfect for many records.
A fast but steep and closed trail leads to the lookout, one of the most desired points to make selfies today, revealing a spectacular look of Ponta and the beach. Down there, the beach of green waters and that constantly receives the visit of turtles, is a great option for a well-deserved dive.
A bit of history
The beaches of Gorda and Pai Vitório were the setting for the landing of clandestine slave ships in the 19th century, when the slave trade was already prohibited in Brazil.
The Africans who stayed at the farms in the outskirts left many descendants, responsible for the region’s “quilombos”. In their honor, Quilombola Square was inaugurated in 2018, in “Arpoador da Rasa”.
