One of the most fascinating secrets of Cabo Frio
The trail to the Slave Cave in Cabo Frio is a unique experience for those seeking adventure, history and nature all in one. Located in an area of untouched beauty, this rock formation hides legends from the colonial period and impresses with its stone walls shaped by the wind and the sea. Many believe that the place served as a hiding place for slaves who fled in search of freedom, which makes the destination even more symbolic and exciting. The trail passes through paradisiacal landscapes such as Praia Brava, Praia da Fenda, Ponta do Chapéu and the charming Praia Fofa, combining an ecological trail with natural viewpoints and sea bathing. An unmissable itinerary for those visiting the Região dos Lagos who want to experience a different tour, with historical context and surprising natural beauty.

About the trail to the Slave Cave
The experience begins at Ilha do Japonês, with a light and flat trail to Praia Brava. From there, on low tide days, it is possible to follow the rocks to the hidden Praia da Fenda, a quiet corner between the cliffs. After returning, the trail continues along easily accessible paths and native vegetation to the historic Caverna dos Escravos.
The trail continues to Ponta do Chapéu, a lookout point with an open view of the sea, and ends at the isolated Praia Fofa, also known as Pedra Polida. The trail is almost entirely flat, alternating between covered and open sections, and the entire experience lasts between 3 and 4 hours, including stops for swimming and contemplation.
