Places visited on the Cultural City Tour in Cabo Frio
Forte São Mateus
The tour begins at São Mateus Fort, one of Cabo Frio’s oldest and most emblematic buildings. Built in the 17th century on a rocky outcrop on Praia do Forte, the fort offers a privileged view of the sea and preserves stories from the colonial period and the defense of the Brazilian coast.
Largo de São Benedito
Next, the tour continues to São Benedito Square, in the Passagem neighborhood. With its charming little white church, the place preserves the atmosphere of the time when Cabo Frio was just beginning to develop as a colonial village.
Orla da Passagem
Walking along the Passagem Waterfront, visitors stroll along cobblestone streets lined with historic mansions that tell part of the city’s history. The banks of the Itajuru Canal complete the scenery, forming one of the most beautiful and preserved sections of the old city.
Palácio das Águias
The tour continues to the Eagles’ Palace, a 19th-century building distinguished by its grandeur and historical value. The building once housed schools and government offices and is now considered one of Cabo Frio’s landmarks of historical architecture.
Morro da Guia
The last stop is at the top of Guia Hill, where the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia, built in the 18th century, stands. From the lookout point, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the city, concluding the tour with a moment of contemplation and connection with the local history and nature.
