Gruta do Amor Circuit

Gruta do Amor Circuit

Between Ferradura and Ferradurinha beaches, there are a multitude of scenarios untouched and of unique beauty.

To clear them, the presence of a guide is fundamental because of the lack of signage and, the degree of difficulty – intermediary/moderate, requiring overcoming obstacles and being attentive to, you will need guidance.

The route of the “Gruta do Amor” goes beyond the landscape that gives the circuit its name.It also brings together the “Pedra do Guardião” (Keeper’s Stone) and the lookout “Garganta Buraco do Ceu”, totaling a walk of approximately 3.5km.

The walk lasts about 4 hours because of the countless possibilities of beautiful and unusual records, and perfect environments for contemplation and rest and, of course, for a refreshing bath.

The first attraction of this itinerary is the Guardian’s Stone, a formation capriciously carved rock that refers to a man’s face. A stone is part of a scenery full of walls and huge cliffs with the blue sea in the background.

A slightly steep climb leads to the lookout which reveals, on one side, the Stone of the Guardian and, from another, the beauty of the lookout “Garganta Buraco do Ceu”, framed by a sea of various shades of blue, sprinkled with turtles.

The bravest can appreciate the throat from another spot. A point on the edge of the trail reveals all the immensity of the Hole seen exactly from on top. Charming, but not suitable for those who are afraid of height or suffer from vertigo. In that case, the order is to observe the white-headed cacti, endemic to the region, which exhibit “white hair” at its top.

The final stretches of the trail reveal what is to come: a perfect place for a swim and, depending on the tide, enjoy the beach of the “Gruta do Amor”

You don’t have to dive in the crystal clear waters of the spot known as “Enseada da Tartaruga” or “Saco da Ferradura” to get to the cave, but it’s practically impossible to resist a refreshing bath. In that case, it is needed to be aware of the guidelines for diverting from the submerged rocks that shelter sea urchins.

Inside the cave, the light sand, the smooth stones and a tiny pool form an exclusive beach, appreciated and enjoyed by a few.
